We deliver to users (“Users,” “you”, “your”) meditation and mental wellness tools via the MyLife mobile applications, the MyLife website (currently located at my.life), and through other platforms and media through which we may make the services available (collectively, the “Services”).

What Personal Information Do We Collect?

 

The Services collect personal information, including:

Where/How Do We Collect Information About You?

 

We and our service providers may collect information about you in a variety of ways, including: 

 

From You.

·         When you create an account. When you create an account or connect to the Services through one of the Partner Communities, we may collect your first and last name, your age or birth date, your gender and your email address. If you register for our Services via a Partner Community, we will obtain certain personal information you have provided to the Partner Community (such as your name, profile picture, email address, date of birth and specific address or general location). When you first describe your mental, physical and emotional status as you enter the Services, you are explicitly sending information about yourself, which MyLife will use to improve its recommendations to you.

·         Through a connected application. If you enable interoperability with a third party application, additional personal information that you have provided to that third party application may be collected and/or you may specifically authorize MyLife to access certain information from such third party application. The information we obtain may depend on the privacy settings you have with the third party application or Partner Community, and the information obtained may not be visible in your account.

·         When you purchase a subscription or premium content.  If you choose to view content that is available through a subscription (“Subscription Services”) or purchase premium content, we, our payment service provider, or a third party payment processor may also collect credit card or other payment information and your billing address.

·         When you share information. If you enter any information (including personal information) when you share a meditation or feature with another person, we may collect this information but will not make this information viewable beyond those contacts with whom you chose to share it.

·         When you contact us. When you leave us feedback or write to us directly, we will collect any information that is contained in your feedback or comment form, which will include your email address and other information that you may submit to us for reference or reply.

 

From Your Device.

·         Log Data. When you interact with the Services, our servers automatically record log data that your mobile device or browser sends. Log data may include information such as your mobile device identifier, your computer’s IP (Internet Protocol) address and browser type, your operating system, and other analytics that help us deliver and monitor the effectiveness of our Services.

·         Internet Activities.  We track the content and time you are meditating for the purposes of improving your experience and tracking your progress.

·         Cookies.   On the Services, MyLife may also use web beacons, session cookies (which expire once you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain for a certain period of time unless deleted): (i) to deliver content requested by you or to recommend content we think may be of interest; (ii) for analytics purposes, to monitor usage of the website, to reengage users, or to improve user experience; and (iii) to remember choices you make.

 

Note: The information we collect when you use the App is used: (i) to deliver content requested by you or to recommend content we think may be of interest; (ii) to optimize the Services for the particular mobile device; and (iii) to gather analytics and data about the way the Services are used through the mobile applications.

 

From Other Sources. 

·         We may also collect information through third party applications, such as integrated health apps, which you choose to connect to MyLife.  MyLife may receive information about your health or physical fitness from these apps.

           

How Do Our Brands Use Your Information?

 

We want to give Users the best experience possible.  We collect information to manage the Services, to deliver to our Users a personalized experience, to respond to User inquiries, to improve our Services, features and content, and to otherwise accomplish our business purposes, including the following:

 

·         To provide the Services (to track and report to you on your progress and to provide you with newsletters and other information about features that may be of interest to you).

·         To recommend content to you (we use your personal information to recommend and deliver to you content and features we think you will enjoy, based on your expressed and inferred preferences and emotional, mental and physical status).

·         To improve the Services (to monitor and analyze use of the Services, conduct user interest and satisfaction surveys, optimize your access to our Services, and control the load on our servers so that we can serve you better).

·         To send you reminders (subject to any choices you have expressed, we may use your email address or mobile number or the push notification feature, if you choose to enable it, to remind you about the Services and new options that we may make available and to inform you about changes to our Services).

·         To respond to User inquiries

·         To accomplish our business purposes (e.g., data analysis, fraud and security, and more).

 

           

Who Do We Share Your Information With?

 

We disclose personal information:

 

Payment Processors.

·         If you sign up through MyLife for a Subscription Service or purchase premium content, a third party app store or payment processor may receive, access or use your payment information (credit card and address) for the purpose of processing transactions and renewals. If you purchased content or signed up for Subscription Services through an app store or a third party payment processor, you should refer to that third party’s terms for information on how it maintains and uses personal financial information for all purchases, including the MyLife Subscription Services.

 

Synapse Group, Inc., our parent company.  

·         MyLife shares your personal information with Synapse, its parent company, with guidelines in place, which has its own privacy statement and is not subject to this Privacy Policy. 

 

Our Service Providers.

·         We may employ third party companies and individuals to help us deliver our Services, to perform maintenance and research services, or to assist us in analyzing how our Services are used (such as infrastructure providers, database management, web or mobile analytics and improvement of the Services’ features). These third parties will receive access to your personal information in order to perform these tasks on our behalf.

 

Aggregate Information and Non-Identifying Information.

·         We may use and disclose to third parties information that does not include personal information for the purposes of industry analysis, research, demographic profiling, marketing, and other purposes relating to our Services. Any aggregated information shared in these contexts will not contain or be connected with your personal information.

 

Business Transfers.

·         If MyLife’s business, stock, or assets are sold to, merged with, or acquired by another company, we may transfer your information in connection with that sale, merger, acquisition, joint venture, reorganization, assignment, transfer, or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, stock, or assets (including in connection with any due diligence or other review prior to such business transaction).

 

Compliance with Laws and Law Enforcement.

·         We may disclose your personal information to government or law enforcement officials or private parties if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is reasonable, appropriate, or necessary to comply with applicable laws, to cooperate with public and government authorities and law enforcement, to respond to valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order, to protect the property and rights of MyLife or a third party, to protect the safety of the public or any person, or to prevent or stop activity we may consider to be, or to pose a risk of being, illegal, unethical or legally actionable.

 

Apple HealthKit and Other Integrations

·         MyLife offers to its Users integrations with Apple HealthKit and other health-related applications (“Health Apps”) through which the Health Apps may, at your direction, receive certain information from MyLife. If you so elect, MyLife may receive certain information that has been generated by the Health App. Such information may be used and disclosed by MyLife as set forth in this Privacy Policy. Data received from the Health App will not be used for marketing purposes.

·         Right to Request Deletion: You have the right to ask us to delete the personal information we collect or maintain about you.

·         Right to Access or Correct Your Information: You have the right to request access to and to edit certain personal information that you have provided to us through our Services.

·         If you would like to exercise any of these rights, you may contact us at support@my.life.  We will respond to your request consistent with applicable law. 

·         In your request, please make clear what personal information you would like to have changed.  For your protection, we may only implement requests with respect to the personal information associated with the particular email address that you use to send us your request, and we may need to verify your identity before implementing your request.  We will try to comply with your request as soon as reasonably practicable. 

·         Please note that we may need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes and/or to complete any transactions that you began prior to requesting a change or deletion (e.g., when you make a purchase or enter a promotion, you may not be able to change or delete the personal information provided until after the completion of such purchase or promotion). 

 

What Other Choices Do You Have?

 

Marketing Communications. We give you choices regarding our use and disclosure of your personal information for marketing purposes.  When you receive messages from us by your chosen method of communication, you may indicate a preference to stop receiving further marketing communications from us by electing to “unsubscribe” and you may turn off notifications on your mobile device. We may, however, still send you administrative messages regarding the Services.

 

Account Information. You may access, update and edit personal information that is in your account by viewing the Profile section of your account when signed in.

 

Cookies & Other Technologies.

·         Your Options. Most web browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You may be able to reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being set. Instructions to remove persistent cookies can be found through your Internet browser. Mobile devices may contain settings that allow you to disable tracking and/or analytics. MyLife does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals. Be aware, however, that if you choose to disable cookies or opt out of tracking or disengage similar features on your mobile device, some or all areas of the Services may not be optimized for your use and you may not be able to access the full functionality of the Services.

·         Analytics and Opt-Out. We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about use of the Services and report on activities and trends. This service may also collect information regarding the use of other websites, apps and online resources.  You can learn about Google’s practices and exercise the opt-out provided by Google by downloading the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

 

Children’s Privacy

 

The Services are not directed toward children under the age of 16 and MyLife does not knowingly collect personal information from such children. We have a separate mobile application for children: Stop, Breathe & Think Kids, which is governed by a separate privacy policy available here. If you learn that your child under age 16 has provided MyLife with personal information in connection with the Services, you may alert us at support@my.life and we will remove their account and delete all information connected with the account

 

Additional Privacy Information

 

Sensitive Information. Unless we specifically request it, we ask that you do not send to us or disclose any sensitive personal information (e.g., social security numbers, information related to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion or other beliefs, biometrics or genetic characteristics, criminal background) on or through the Services or otherwise to us.

 

Security, Retention and Storage of Information.  We protect your personal information using reasonable administrative, physical and technological measures designed to maintain the security of your personal information, but unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

 

Our Location.  MyLife is located in the United States. Accordingly, personal information we collect may be transferred to and stored in our servers or those of our service providers (such as hosting providers) in the United States or other countries that may have data protection rules that are different from those of your country. If you are located outside the United States, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to the United States and/or other countries

 

EU-U.S. Privacy Shield.  Meredith adheres to the principles of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework (“Privacy Shield Principles”) as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information transferred from the European Union (“EU”) to the United States, and it is in the process of certifying its compliance with the U.S. Department of Commerce.  If there is any conflict between the terms in this privacy policy and the Privacy Shield Principles, the Privacy Shield Principles shall govern.  To learn more about the Privacy Shield program, please visit the Privacy Shield website

 

Meredith is responsible for the processing of personal information it receives under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework, or subsequently transfers to a third party acting as an agent on its behalf. Meredith complies with the Privacy Shield Principles for all onward transfers from the EU and EEA, including onward transfer liability provisions. 

 

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has jurisdiction over Meredith’s compliance with its obligations under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield.  In certain situations, Meredith may be required to disclose personal information in response to a lawful request by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements. 

 

In compliance with the Privacy Shield Principles, Meredith commits to resolve complaints about our collection or use of your personal information.  EU individuals with inquiries or complaints regarding our Privacy Shield policy should first contact us at support@my.life. If you do not receive timely acknowledgment of your complaint from us, or if we have not resolved your complaint, you may submit your complaint at no cost to you to JAMS, our independent recourse mechanism, at https://www.jamsadr.com/eu-us-privacy-shield. In the event there are residual complaints that have not been resolved by JAMS, or any other means, you may seek a non-monetary remedy through binding arbitration to be provided to you in accordance with the Privacy Shield Principles.

 

Changes to Our Privacy Policy.  MyLife reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Privacy Policy through the mobile applications and on the MyLife website.

 

Third Party Services.  The Services may contain links or integrations to third party applications, websites or services, including the Partner Communities, and also may be accessed via a plug-in through third party applications, websites or services. We have no control over, do not review, and are not responsible for these outside services or their content. This Privacy Policy does not govern your visits to these other services, and your access is entirely at your own risk. These other services and applications may set their own cookies on users, collect data, or solicit personal information. You should refer to any privacy policies on such services and applications to understand how your information may be collected and used, and should choose appropriate settings for sharing your personal information before proceeding to any integration with a third party service or application.
